In this tutorial we will design a Vista-styled Firewall Icon.

Start a new document. Click on the [ Custom Shape Tool (U) ]

Choose ‘sign 4′ and draw this shape.

Making Layer Style
Double click the layer or go to Layers->Blending options and apply settings as shown.

Here is the result

In layers panel hold Ctrl then click on layer of shape to make a selection of it.

Now go to Select > Modify > Contract

Your selection should be like this

Click on the [Gradient Tool (G) ]

Apply settings below.

Draw a gradient as shown.

Result:

Make a selection of second layer and subtract left side from selection area.

Click on the [Gradient Tool (G) ]

Draw gradient as shown

Your result should be like this

Now add the TEXT.

Making Text Style
Double click the layer or go to Layers->Blending options and apply settings as shown.
